Material Experiment

Rattan Workshop is an ongoing material experiment of the studio. Often used for baskets and chairs, when moisturised, rattans are easy to bend and create an elegant arc. Compared to metallic wires, another thin flexible material, rattans can form a relatively consistent curve because of the tension inside the material itself. In this workshop we are exploring the nature and the possibility of the material through touching, bending and twisting the material rather than trying to achieve predetermined purposes.
We are looking for collaborators (e.g. material developers, material researchers, designers, artists) who are interested in a new potential of natural and artificial materials and structures. If you are interested in working with us, please contact us.
